The "Force" is set to return to movie theaters across the country Dec. 15 when "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" - the latest installment in the "Star Wars" film saga - opens. In preparation for that much-anticipated release, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside is hosting a series of free, public events celebrating the cultural phenomenon that is "Star Wars."

Called the "Star Wars Extravaganza," the university's series is scheduled to begin on Saturday, Nov. 18, with a concert featuring music from the "Star Wars" films, and the opening of an exhibition of collectibles titled "Star Wars: Nostalgia Awakens." The series will continue through the end of the month, offering everything from a book discussion by an award-winning science fiction writer and a screening of "Star Wars: the Force Awakens," to a lightsaber workshop and a "Star Wars" trivia game. All events will take place in the Rita Tallent Picken Regio.
